And considering usage, will you have a show kitchen or master bath with design elements that use exotic materials, or will you have a working kitchen or bath that function over style is a stronger desire than having a more exotic design. The most durable finish is Chrome, and it is a popular finish across all styles today. Polished Nickel is warmer with silver like overtones, that is durable, but requires some care to maintain its lustre. Satin Nickel can be used in modern and traditional designs, being antique looking in one respect, but modern in the right setting and design. If you have a kitchen that is more working than show, Chrome is the most durable. If you have a kitchen that is warm and reflective, where people congregate for dinner and visiting, Polished Nickel and Satin Nickel show well have good wear qualities. And if you are looking for more exotic finishes, gold and satin gold have made a come back lately. They show rich and elegant in a nice show kitchen in any style.
